Speed, Passion, Dedication, Innovation. Aero Supercharger Solutions.
Home to the #1 supercharger for Experimental class aircrafts is Aero Supercharger Solutions. Rick Schrameck and Dennis Mortensen founded this Las Vegas based company in 2001. Their love of aircraft and racing, along with their personal expertise and background, helped create the record-breaking racing solution of increased speed and efficiency.
Upon retiring from years of successful high-tech industry careers, each moved to Las Vegas where they first met and discovered they had much in commonboth are licensed pilots, homebuilders, and love to race. The ultimate commonality was their desire for a new challenge.
That challenge came in the form of creating the first supercharger for aircrafts. Rick and Dennis first determined that a supercharger is far more beneficial than a turbochargersupercharging adds horsepower without having to touch the integrity of the aircrafts engine. In addition, their normalized and intermediate superchargers produce a low outlet temperature so that an intercooler is not required.
Working with Vortech Superchargers in Oxnard, California, a custom, belt-driven, centrifugal supercharger was built. Next, it was up to them to install the supercharger into Ricks newly homebuilt Lancair Legacy. Dennis, whose background is in mechanical engineering, designed and built all the parts needed to mount the supercharger. Meanwhile, Rick designed the superchargers system, including the intake and fuel injection system. Their combined efforts allowed the Legacy to break the world speed record at the 2002 Reno competition.
Today, the innovation continues. Two of the three models of the supercharger system are currently available, while the thirdthe racing modelis under development. In addition, Rick and Dennis plan to install systems into other aircraft such as the Lycoming IO-360 and IO-540. The racing continues as well. Stay tuned for updated performance records.
